Protect Sudbury, Inc. (“PS, Inc.”), is a not for profit organization organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and section 501(c)(4) of the tax code, encourages the solicitation and acceptance of gifts to or for the benefit of PS, Inc. for purposes that will help PS, Inc. to further and fulfill its mission. The mission of PS, Inc. is to preserve and protect the character, natural beauty, and heritage of the town of Sudbury, MA, by educational programs, by joint public action to mobilize the community, and by whatever lawful means may be determined by the Board of Directors which are permitted under Section 501 (c) (4) of the Internal Revenue Code. PS, Inc.’s Board of Directors have a fiduciary duty to ensure that PS, Inc.’s assets are used efficiently and protected from potential liabilities and diversion to purposes other than those that further PS, Inc.’s goals. The following policies and guidelines govern acceptance of gifts made to PS, Inc. or for the benefit of any of its programs.
Protect Sudbury, Inc. (PS, Inc.) manages fundraising initiatives to make every donated dollar go further for our cause. The board of directors and officers are all unpaid volunteers. We will carefully consider the needs of the organization and will use your gift where we determine it is most needed, so that all donations may directly and indirectly support the preservation of our beautiful town.
PS, Inc will accept unrestricted gifts, and gifts for specified programs and purposes, provided that such gifts are consistent with its stated mission, purposes, and priorities. PS, Inc., will not accept gifts that are too restrictive in purpose. Gifts for purposes that are not consistent with PS, Inc.’s mission or consonant with its current or anticipated future programs cannot be accepted. Examples of gifts that are too restrictive are those that violate the terms of the corporate charter, gifts that are too difficult to administer, are prohibited by law, or gifts that are for purposes outside the mission of PS, Inc. All final decisions on the restrictive nature of a gift, and its acceptance or refusal, shall be made by the Board of Directors of PS, Inc.
